The most important question to answer when building a personal brand is what matters to you at your core?
What's your purpose? what's your cause? what's your belief? why does your organization exist? why do you get out of bed in the morning? why should anyone care as a result?
We tend to communicate by discussing the clearest ideas to the most abstract. The most inspiring leaders and organizations regardless of their industry or size all communicate from the inside out.
Let's think of apple as an example, if Apple were like everyone else a marketing message would marketing message from them might sound like this:
We make great computers they're beautifully designed simply to use and user-friendly want to buy one?
How Apple actually communicates:
Everything we do we believe in challenging the status quo we believe in thinking differently. The way we challenge the status quo is by making our products beautifully designed simple to use and user-friendly, we just happen to make great computers want to buy one?
It's important to remember people don’t buy what you do. They buy why you do it. This strategy is called positioning and its all about differentiation and communication of your values. This all boils down to what you believe in, and once you do that as an Artist you will be able to connect with your audience at a deeper level.
Apple is able to sell multiple types of products without confusing what Apple stands for. It's not about the product, it's about the brand and the personality behind the product.
That's no different than if you look at someone like P Diddy who are innovative in lifestyle branding. He has sold everything from music, clothes, colognes, and alcohol. He's selling an entire lifestyle but you know the type of lifestyle that P Diddy believes in
Branding is really about communicating your values. A lot of people have a niche but they think just because I'm doing stuff in this area that means this area is going to love me but that doesn't mean anything. The only people you attract are those who have the same values as you.
